so have ordered 32 of (942C20P1K-F). the data sheet (link below) says they are .1uF, 2000VDC and 500VAC rated. i initially did the math with the 2000v rating.
my first question is, which rating should i use ? the neon sign transformer is 12KVA and ive read that i should have a mmc bank with a rating of twice this.
my second question.. my math tells me i need a mmc bank of 6.2nF. is this a ballpark figure ? i will include the atributes of the parts i have so far. if there are any math wizards out there maybe see if im on the right track
many thanks!
Tesla coil stats:
top load toroid -17.674pF
2ndary coil – 1000 turns of awg 24
inductance 18.264mH
self capacitance 7.779pF
neon sign transformer
12KVA @ 30mA
if any more info is needed let me know

the capacitors arrived today, it would be great if somebody could tell me which voltage rating to use

Use the DC rating
