Blink 182 once said “Nobody likes you when you’re 23”. We would disagree.
With our 24th birthday coming up in just a few days, we’d like to take just a few moments to celebrate the ways we’ve continued to change the face of education in Grand Rapids and around the world. It all starts with our over 50,000 members in 233 countries around the world. We’ve accomplished so many things over the past 365 days that would be impossible without our members:
- We provided over 5,000 computers to underserved families through our Computers for Families Initiative. Through two very generous grants, we are excited to be expanding this program to Muskegon during the upcoming school year.
- Over the last year, we supplied students and teachers in all 50 states and in 231 countries with 235,452 hours of educational video produced in our facility. Classroom content is now 42% of our consumed content, which is up from 15% from the year before. If you haven’t watched Your Dinosaurs Are Wrong, you’re missing out!
- In 2017, over 5,000 students visited our campus for an up close and exciting look at science through our Hands-On STEM Field Trip program. Because of the generosity of people like you, we are able to provide field trips at extremely low costs for districts that otherwise would be unable to afford them.
These are just a handful of the opportunities that have been made possible because of the support of our community, our members, and those who believe that education is a right for all people.
Will you join us in celebrating our birthday with a gift of $24 to ensure that we are able to continue to provide educational access for another year?
